Two-factor authentication(2FA) is a method of protecting your account and related data using two different types of validity checks.

It plays a vital role in safeguarding accounts by requiring an additional verification step, going beyond just the password.

When you sign in to an account, you usually enter your login and password. In this case, we can say that your password is one of your authentication factors. If you enable 2FA, you’ll need to provide one more unique code to access your account. This code is usually provided by SMS or with a special application.

This additional layer of security is mandatory for withdrawals on CEX.IO to prevent unauthorized access.

2FA gives an extra layer of security to your personal information and funds. You can enable 2FA on your CEX.IO account using the SMS method or the Google Authenticator app.

Why Is 2FA Mandatory for Withdrawals?

CEX.IO enforces 2FA to secure both account access and transactions. Without 2FA, access to withdrawals is not permitted as it ensures double-verification. Disabling 2FA requires following strict official procedures, ensuring security is never compromised.

How to Set Up 2FA Using Google Authenticator

  1. Download the Google Authenticator App: Install it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

  2. Enable 2FA on CEX.IO: Log in to your account, navigate to security settings, and choose to set up 2FA.

  3. Scan the QR Code: Use the app to scan the QR code in your account settings.

  4. Save the Backup Code: Note the backup code for future recovery.

  5. Confirm Setup: Test and confirm the setup using the code in your authenticator app.

How to Disable 2FA

If necessary, you can request to disable 2FA. Follow these steps:

  1. Verify your account details based on CEX.IO instructions.

  2. Submit a formal request to the platform for review. Approval depends on meeting security standards.

By integrating 2FA, CEX.IO ensures robust security for user accounts and transactions.
