As outlined in previous communications, CEX.IO services were sunset in Canada on July 15, 2023. After this deadline, only withdrawal functionality remained for users with outstanding balances. However, this period also has a hard cut-off date.

Due to a request from the Autorité des marchés financiers (“AMF”) and other members of the Canadian Securities Administrators (“CSA”), CEX.IO will cease withdrawal functionality on October 5, 2023.

Additionally, we have been asked to block access to the CEX.IO website and application for anyone using an IP address from Canada, and will leave the region until further notice.

To ensure a smooth transition, we encourage users located in Canada to withdraw their assets as soon as possible.

If you have a current balance remaining on your CEX.IO account, please withdraw those funds in their entirety before Thursday, October 5, 2023.

Failure to do so will necessitate additional actions, and may require coordination with regulators to initiate them. For assistance with the many withdrawal methods available throughout our product ecosystem, please consult our Help Centre.

If you hold digital assets with us, and wish to withdraw them in cryptocurrency, Canadian Securities authorities require that all tokens be withdrawn via the entities listed here.

Why are services being discontinued for Canada-based users?

Unfortunately, changes in the regulatory landscape have left us unable to continue providing services to Canada-based users. As a result, we sunset our offerings in the region.

When did functionality cease for Canada-based users?

As of July 15, 2023, everything but our withdrawal off-ramps were deactivated for Canada-based users. On Thursday, October 5, 2023, all withdrawal services will sunset.

What will happen to my funds after October 5, 2023?

After the deadline, withdrawals will require additional steps, including coordination with CEX.IO Support staff, and potentially local regulators. As we approach the deadline stipulated by the regulatory body, we ask that all remaining funds held by Canada-based users be withdrawn as soon as possible.
