Confirming sign-in from a new device

Written by Tina Tribbiani

To help keep your account secure, we may ask you to confirm your sign-in when you log in from a device we don’t recognize. This extra step helps protect your account from unauthorized access.

When is sign-in confirmation required?

You’ll be asked to confirm your sign-in if both of the following are true: you sign in with your email and password, and you’re using a device that isn’t on the list of trusted devices.

How to confirm your sign-in

  1. Enter your email and password.

  2. If you’re signing in from a new device, the Confirm sign-in attempt screen will appear.

  3. Check your inbox for a confirmation code. We send it to the email address linked to your account.

  4. Enter the code on the Confirm sign-in attempt screen.

  5. If you’ve set up two-factor authentication (2FA), complete the 2FA step. If not, you’ll be signed in right away.

Once you confirm your sign-in, the device is added to your trusted devices. You won’t need to confirm your sign-in again when you log in from it.

Didn’t get the code? Check your spam or junk folder, and make sure you’re checking the inbox of the email address linked to your account.

You can view all active sessions on your account in Profile → Security.

If you remove a session, the device is also removed from your trusted devices. The next time you sign in from it, you’ll need to confirm your sign-in again.

Tip: If you see a session you don’t recognize, remove it and change your password right away.
